Muslim Organisations Attempt To Whitewash Ft. Hood Jihad With Boilerplate Statements

November 9, 2009

American Muslim organisations are whirling like derwishes on speed to propagandise that the jihad committed at the Ft. Hood military base by Major Malik Hasan which left 13 soldiers dead and 38 wounded should be viewed as a criminal act and not as the jihad attack that it was. In order to further this travesty the Islamic Society of North America (an unindicted co conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding trial) has set up a "Ft. Hood Family Fund" to help those who has been affected by what they call a "tragic incident". All the organisations issued boilerplate statements condemning what many of them called a "heinous" attack. In several announcements the groups have portrayed Muslims as potential victims of a non existent backlash, thus intimating that it is Muslims instead of non Muslims who are facing a threat of violence.

Below a compilation of press releases by various American Muslim organisations:

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) called the killings a "heinous crime".

Muslim Organizations Urge the Media and Public to View Ft Hood Attack as a Criminal Act

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), and four other Muslim and Arab organizations, held a press conference on Friday, November 6, at ISNA Washington Office on Capitol Hill to condemn the shootings at Fort Hood and urge the public to view this tragedy as an individual criminal, not representative of the Islamic faith.

"We don't know the motives or the state of mind of the perpetrator of this heinous crime, but we want our fellow Americans to know that Muslim Americans condemn this horrific attack and see it as a complete violation of Islamic values and norms," said Dr. Louay Safi, ISNA director of communications and leadership development.

"As with Timothy McVeigh, the sniper, we focused on the person, not their religion. You wouldn't take a Christian or a Jewish soldier who did something like this and look at other Christians and Jews and say, 'Can we trust them?' " said Qaseem Uqdah, a former Marine and executive director of the American Muslims in Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council.

Nawar Shora, legal director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), said that his office received some hateful e-mails and calls forwarded to him by community members and, including one that was sent on Thursday night that said, "We know where you are, you have nowhere to hide."

ISNA Vice President Imam Mohamed Magid announced a new fund set by ISNA for collecting donations from Muslim Americans for the victims of the shootings. Asked whether other Muslim Americans could identify with the shooter's apparent anxiety about being deployed to Afghanistan, Magid said "if you look at who has refused to go [to Afghanistan and Iraq], you'll find not only Muslims. And you will find thousands of Muslim Americans fighting."

Alejandro Beutel of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) told the conference that Muslims were shocked as they learned about the senseless and appalling act of violence in Ft Hood. He stressed that all four organizations unequivocally denounced the incident in the strongest terms possible. "We offer our deepest condolences and prayers to the victims and their loved ones," he said.

U.S. Muslims Condemn Attack at Fort Hood
Posted 11/5/2009 6:15:00 PM

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/5/09) - A prominent national Muslim civil rights and advocacy group tonight condemned an attack on Fort Hood military base in Texas that left at least 12 people dead.

In a statement, the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said:

"We condemn this cowardly attack in the strongest terms possible and ask that the perpetrators be punished to the full extent of the law. No religious or political ideology could ever justify or excuse such wanton and indiscriminate violence. The attack was particularly heinous in that it targeted the all-volunteer army that protects our nation. American Muslims stand with our fellow citizens in offering both prayers for the victims and sincere condolences to the families of those killed or injured."

Along with innumerable condemnations of terror, CAIR has in the past launched an online anti-terror petition drive called "Not in the Name of Islam," initiated a television public service announcement (PSA) campaign against religious extremism and coordinated a "fatwa," or Islamic religious ruling, against terrorism and extremism.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

MIM: The American- Arab Anti- Discrimination Committee states that "such violence ...has nothing to do with any religion, race, ethnicity or national origin. The ADC also propagates the myth of a non existent backlash against Muslims and urges them to "take safety precautions":

ADC Appalled by Attack on Fort Hood, Community Urged to Take Safety Precautions

Washington, DC | November 5, 2009 | www.adc.org | The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is appalled by the attack that took place earlier today against soldiers and others at Fort Hood, Texas. Preliminary news reports have indicated that a rogue Army Major Nidal Hasan and two others shot and killed at least 12 people and injured numerous others.

ADC President Mary Rose Oakar said, "This attack is absolutely deplorable. ADC has been consistent and on record in condemning any attacks aimed at innocents, no matter who the victims or the perpetrators may be. Such violence is morally reprehensible and has nothing to do with any religion, race, ethnicity, or national origin. ADC urges the FBI and law enforcement agencies to make every effort to see that justice is served." Oakar continued, "ADC also calls upon law enforcement agencies to provide immediate protection for all Mosques, community centers, schools, and any locations that may be identified or misidentified with being Arab, Muslim, South Asian or Sikh as a clear backlash has already started. The actions of a few should not invite a backlash on innocent members of any community and we urge law enforcement and others to keep that in mind.

Additionally, due to these tragic developments, ADC is releasing the following advisory statement to members of the Arab, Muslim, South Asian, and Sikh American communities. ADC feels it prudent to issue this advisory statement due to the potential of a backlash against these communities and given the historically documented acts of hate-motivated violence including vandalism against these communities.

ADC would like to emphasize that it is issuing this advisory based on experiences in the community in recent years, and purely as a precautionary measure. ADC presents these suggestions for the consideration of the Arab, Muslim, South Asian, and Sikh American communities, to be evaluated by each family and individual according to their own best judgment and in the context of their own situation and relationship with their local community. ADC urges everyone to exercise common sense and rely on their own best judgment, but offers the following as suggestions should the need arise:

1) IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS PLACED IN PHYSICAL DANGER BECAUSE OF YOUR ETHNICITY, RELIGION, OR NATIONAL ORIGIN:

Call the police (dial 911 in most communities)

Contact the local FBI office, It is the FBI's job to investigate hate-motivated crimes and specific threats of violence. A list of FBI field offices is included on our website, please see: http://adc.org/fbi_field_office.htm

If the threat is imminent, go to a safe location such as a police station or church.

If you feel threatened in your home or community, move to a friend's house, or a hotel for as long as necessary.

Contact ADC to file a complaint by emailing the ADC Legal Department at< [email protected] > or by calling (202) 244-2990.

2) IF YOUR PLACE OF WORK, PLACE OF WORSHIP, OR SCHOOL IS IDENTIFIED OR CAN BE MISIDENTIFIED WITH ARABS AND/OR MUSLIMS:

Make sure the location has an open line of communication with law enforcement.

Make sure you know all the exits to your building.

Make sure the location has a current emergency plan that is defined and can be implemented should the need arise.

3) IF YOUR CHILD CAN BE IDENTIFIED AS ARAB OR MUSLIM, OR MAY BE CONFUSED FOR BEING OF MIDDLE-EASTERN ORIGIN:

Make sure you discuss the events with your children and that they feel comfortable speaking with an adult if they face harassment by others.

Make sure your children know what steps to take to avoid confrontation with other students.

Work with your children's school to implement an anti-discriminatory policy.

11/06/09 - MSA NATIONAL VEHEMENTLY CONDEMNS TRAGIC SHOOTING AT FORT HOOD TX

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MSA NATIONAL VEHEMENTLY CONDEMNS TRAGIC SHOOTING AT FORTH HOOD, TX

November 5, 2009 - Washington, DC- Yesterday, a tragic act of violence at Fort Hood, Texas, left nearly a dozen men and women dead, and dozens more wounded. MSA National vehemently condemns this senseless act, and extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives or were wounded.

Whether this tragedy is the result of mental instability, or a wanton act of violence, remains unknown. Regardless, the need for open dialogue within all American communities is imminent. Just as many Muslim Student Associations across the United States have engaged in forward-thinking, positive, and productive "Peace...not Prejudice" campaigns this month, we encourage all universities to take the time to host two-part "Campus Conversations", starting with frank and open discussions, in which participants will express their deepest and most sincere thoughts regarding this and other tragedies worldwide. These dialogues should then be followed by solution-based conversations that shall seek to establish reasonable steps toward respect and understanding, tragedy prevention, and a lasting peace within all American communities, that can emanate worldwide.

We also urge our university communities, as well as America's Muslim communities in general, to dedicate next week's traditional Friday prayer to the condemnation of this wanton violence within the teachings of Islam.

While nothing will bring back the lives of those who have been lost, we recognize that a peaceful national dialogue will serve as a blockade to any individual who wishes to do harm unto others, as well as a sincere teaching moment for all.

MIM: The Muslim Alliance in North America calls the Fort Hood jihad a "criminal act"

MANA Condemns Fort Hood Shooting

Lexington, KY (11/06/09) - The Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA) is saddened by the Fort Hood incident in which 13 people were killed and others injured. We extend our condolences to the families who were impacted by this tragedy and we join other Muslim groups to condemn the unconscionable violence that took place.

The act committed at Fort Hood was a criminal act and should not be associated with the religion of Islam, nor should it serve as another excuse for the castigation or demonization of Islam and Muslims. Islam does not condone such killings. We pray for justice. It is disheartening and perplexing that a psychiatrist who was trained to provide counseling to troubled soldiers was himself very troubled. Perhaps this is yet another indication of the far-reaching tragedy of war and the horrific toll it takes on the lives of all who are affected by it.

In a recent statement, US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said, "the protracted military campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq - and the repeated deployments of much of America's ground forces - have brought a new focus to the signature wounds of these wars and on the psychological health of the force and their families."

For the Fort Hood families, we mourn their losses and the loss of many innocent lives lost at home and abroad.

MIM: The Arab American Family Support Center (AAFSC) calls the Fort Hood jihad "the actions of one disturbed individual" and a "senseless act".

Dear Friends,

Everyone at The Arab American Family Support Center is shocked and horrified by the deplorable act of violence at Fort Hood in Texas which took the lives of 13 people and injured 31 others. Our deepest condolences go out to the families who lost a loved one as the result of the actions of one disturbed individual. AAFSC has always been committed to building bridges and creating an environment based on peace and understanding. We condemn violence in any form and we grieve along with the rest of the country over this senseless act. Regardless of individual opinions about the conficts overseas, we can all agree that those brave individuals who choose to serve in the military deserve our appreciation and respect. Thousands of Arab Americans and Muslims have proudly served in all four branches of the military and have defended the United States in combat situations. It's crucial that we all avoid the scapegoating and broad generalizations against Arab Americans and Muslim Americans which happened in the aftermath of previous incidents of violence.
